ISRAEL's port of Ashdod welcome last week its biggest ever container vessel owned by Japanese shipping giant Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. ( "K" Line's) the TEU 8,212 Humber Bridge.

The vessel LOA 336.0m, beam 45.8m, capacity 8,212 TEU (Nominal 9,040TEU), service Speed 25.6Knot, gross tonnage 98,800 ton, has incorporated new environmental and safety aspects in the vessel hull design and onboard equipment.

It has fuel oil tanks located in the bulkheads (space between the holds) as well as its hull being double bottomed which help to avoid fuel oil leakage in the event of collision.

Its use of a heat recovery steam generator helps to recycle heat from the exhaust gas discharged from the main engine. It holds an inventory list for Green Passport which takes advance measures in accordance with "Ship Recycle Guideline" adopted by IMO in December 2005.

The vessel's port rotation will be Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Kaohsiung, Shenzhen-Yantian, Singapore, Port Said, Ashdod, Genoa, Barcelona, Marseilles-Fos, Port Said and back to Shanghai.

“K” Line is represented in Israel by Mr. Dror Vered and Mano Maritime Ltd. serves as general agent in Israel for the Japanese shipping giant.
