The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) announced last week that Israel's Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 0.4% in June to 104.0 points.

The figure means that inflation in the twelve months to the end of June was 4.2% higher year-on-year, slightly faster than the 4.1% growth recorded in May. In April, the inflation rate was 4%.

It was the 16th straight monthly rise in the monthly CPI, which has risen 2.2% since the beginning of the year and 1.8% excluding housing.

The CPI in June showed an increase in prices of clothing and footwear (+8.6%), food (+0.8%), housing (+0.5%) and automobiles (+1.3%). Fuel (-2.1%), fresh fruit prices fell by 4.7%, and fresh vegetable prices by 3.1%, transportation and communications (-0.3%), travel abroad (-0.7%) and books (-11.6%).
